REV 3-13-2017

Welcome to the 2017 Spring Rowing Season
Hello New Rowers, Returning Rowers, Families, and Coaches!
As we enter our 12th spring season as a scholastic rowing club in the state of Florida, I am so proud of the accomplishments our team has made this past fall and I look forward to all that is in store for the spring season.  Our organization continues to grow from a once tiny team, barely able to fill one boat, to over 50 high school athletes and 30 middle school athletes.  We are now competing with the “big boys” and showing everyone at each regatta we attend that Lyman Crew is a fierce competitor.
We had the most successful fall, “Head Race”, season in Lyman’s history.  We won our first overall regatta winner team trophy at the Gatorhead Regatta in Gainesville, FL.  Now as the spring season or “Sprint Season” begins it is time to get ready for some exciting races.  If you watched rowing during the Olympics, those were sprint races and are a lot of fun to watch.  Our team has placed high at every regatta we have competed in and received medals at the Florida State Championships Finals for the past several years in a row.  We are looking forward to adding more wins to our record!
We not only want our rowers to learn the skills needed for rowing and to become elite athletes;  we are committed to building rowers who are leaders, show good character, excel in education, support their teammates, and become successful adults.  Our goal is to do all of these things while instilling a true love of rowing.
Our rowers and coaches alone cannot make a successful team.  It is dedication of parents, families, friends, volunteers, and our community that come together to make a successful crew.  Thank you to all of our Board Members who dedicated their time to make Lyman Crew successful.  We are always looking for volunteers to help during regattas, help with maintenance of our equipment, help organize paperwork; the list goes on and on.  Even just a little of your time helps us continue our tradition of excellence.

Go Greyhounds,
Jeanne Jacobs – LRA President
